Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A guy was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines through the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, stated: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be unsafe.

"These kinds of items being sold, normally online, have undergone no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their security.

"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More importantly, you do not know the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
